Faculty of Developmental Studies

The faculty of community development established in 1995, the study started in the same year of a unique specialization as it enable graduates to be national cadre capable to carry out all research relevant to development to developmental studies supported by scientific theories known in economic and social science as well as intensive field training empowering graduates to devolve these theories on the ground making them appropriate to Sudanese social context.

The faculty focus on interaction with local community, providing its research services continuously particularly to rural community assisted by its distinguished situation in the heart of Al Matma area west Shendi in the River Nile state. Therefore the faculty is considered as a university arm and the main tool to implement the third goals of the university local community services then other goals focus on teaching  scientific research. On the strength of these high human goal, depending on the philosophy that leads and guides the faculty we welcome all those who concerned with local community development, realization its welfare as actors in all activities, carrying out by the faculty particularly in field work to which the faculty dedicates big parts of its resources and time.

Introduction:

The faculty of community development established in 1995 at Taibat Al Khawad Village in Al Matama locality purposely to serve the community, to contribute in solving its developmental problems which required comprehensive study and planned change to reach to results decision makers depend on. The faculty tries to understand social and cultural environment and to contribute positively in local community development by all means.

The faculty vision:

Positive participation to implement community development programs via enhancing student capacities with different skills and tools in community development field economically, socially and culturally then building of partnership with educational and training institutions, community based organizations, public and private sectors and international regional governmental organizations.

The faculty message:

The main message of the faculty is to exert efforts in order to improve and promote local community level contributing in providing developmental solutions for all the River Nile state.

The faculty Goals:

  • The faculty aims at the followings: Developing local communities (urban, Villagers and Bedouins) in services and health enlightenment. Coordinating between popular and official efforts in reforming local community development. Providing serious statistics and researches in order to understand local community problems then recommending effective solutions. Carrying out studies and researches relevant to renewing community resources and how to benefit from them. Discovering community local leaderships. Qualifying competent graduate of theoretical and scientific aspects. Encouraging continuous education.

Sociology and anthropology dept, is one of the depts., of the faculty of community development of shendi university.

This dept, is looking forward to continuous development on teaching, training and scientific research in social science and anthropological studies.
